2023 Kindergarten Registration
Parents and guardians of children who will be five years old on or before September 1, 2023, are encouraged to begin the registration process by visiting the GCPS Kindergarten Registration Webpage. Please have your documents ready to upload when you start the process.
New Student - New to Gwinnett County Public Schools
Students who have never attended a GCPS school
Enrolling adult is responsible for providing all documents needed for enrollment. Incomplete paperwork will cause delays in the student's start date.
Items to Bring: New or Returning
1. Official document showing proof of birth date
Examples: an original birth certificate, an official Immigration and Naturalization document, or other state/federal forms with date of birth. For a fee, parents can order a birth certificate for a child born in Georgia through the state's ROVER service site.
2. Copy of child's social security card
Providing the social security number is voluntary. You may request a waiver of the social security number requirement at the time of enrollment.
3. GA certificate of immunization
Georgia Form 3231 (Out of state immunization forms must be transferred to the Georgia Form.) This can be done at your pediatrician’s office or the Lawrenceville Health Department 770-963-6136 (directions to the health department are located in the Other Forms section).
4. Evidence of vision, hearing, and dental exams obtained in the past year
This information must be on Georgia Form 3300, completed by the health department or your physician and dentist.
5. Proof of residency in the attendance zone
Examples: non-contingent sales contract, current lease/rental agreement, most recent income tax return, current paycheck stub, current residential tax statement/bill , current warranty or quit claim deed, current home purchase agreement, or current homeowner’s insurance policy AND a current utility bill (excluding telephone bill). A contingency contract is not acceptable. Parents who live with a friend or family member, should contact the school for information about verifying residency.
6. Proof of custody or guardianship, if not the birth parent
A letter of guardianship is required. You should contact Gwinnett County Probate Court to obtain guardianship information.
7. Identification for person enrolling the student
Examples: driver’s license, state identification card, passport, other official photo identification obtained from an official government agency or consulate

Transfer
Transferring within Gwinnett County Public Schools
- Students whose most recent school was a GCPS school
- Enrolling adult is responsible for providing all documents needed for enrollment. Incomplete paperwork will cause delays in the student's start date.
- Enrolling adult(s) must go to previous Gwinnett County Public School for a withdrawal form and K12 status change form.
- A new proof of residence from the approved county list must be submitted along with the K12 status change form.

Returning
Returning to Gwinnett County Public Schools after being out of the County or State
- Students who at some time has attended a GCPS school and was assigned a student identification number.
- Enrolling adult is responsible for providing all documents needed for enrollment. Incomplete paperwork will cause delays in the student's start date.
- Pick up a handwritten enrollment form from Dyer Elementary School.
- Bring the completed form and other required docs to complete the enrollment process.
Items to Bring:

Withdrawing - Online
Steps for Withdrawing
Online Withdrawal Form
We wish your child the best during the transition to a new school. Our school system has an easy-to-use, secure online withdrawal process that will allow you to complete the form required for withdrawing your child.
Once you complete and submit the online withdrawal form, you will be contacted by a school representative to verify your ID and to provide you with any additional information necessary to complete the withdrawal if needed for your child.
Steps on a computer:
If using a browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.) other than Internet Explorer (IE), in order to complete the form and submit it, you will need to do the following steps:
- Click here to download/save the form to your device
- Open the downloaded form with the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC application and not your browser
- If needed, click here to download Adobe Acrobat Reader DC for free
- Tip: Right-click the file and select Open with Adobe Acrobat DC to allow the Submit button to function
- Fill out the form
- Click the submit button at the bottom of the form
- You should be prompted to Send Email
- Select Use Webmail
- Click Select to access the drop-down menu to select one of the following options
- Select, Add Gmail... if you have a Gmail account
- Add Gmail E-mail
- Select OK
- Select, Add Other... if you use another web-based email (Outlook, Yahoo, etc.)
- Add your web-based email address
- Select OK
- Select your email account if you've added an account within Adobe Acrobat Reader DC in the past
- Select, Add Gmail... if you have a Gmail account

- A draft email will be created in your email account

Withdrawal Completion Process
1. Parents will complete and submit the withdrawal form by following the directions above.
2. Upon completion of the withdrawal form by the parent, the school will review the form and will contact the parent, if needed, for any missing information.
3. The school will contact the parent to set up a virtual meeting to verify the identity of the withdrawing parent. If parents have not been contacted after 24 hours of completing the online form, please call the school at 770-963-6214 to verify the school received the submitted online form.
4. After verifying the identity of the withdrawing parent, the school will email the parent prior to sending the completed withdrawal form. This initial email will provide parents with directions on how to open an encrypted PDF message sent by Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS).
5. The school will finalize the withdrawal process by securely emailing the encrypted withdrawal form.
6. An Enrollment Verification Form will also be included in this email. This form should be completed by the student’s new school and faxed back to Dyer Elementary to complete the process.
Transferring to another Gwinnett County School:

- AND ONE of the following: Your Deed, Tax Bill, Tax Return, Homeowner’s Insurance, Lease, Paystub, etc.
